Stanley ran down the hall and jumped down the stairs three at a time. He walked past the classes and walked out the door. He had decided to cut school. It may have been the most important lesson of his life but it's not like he was going to learn anything sitting next to a bully and having a teacher who didn't care about the bully.

While he was walking out he ran into Gordon smoking.

"I thought you were cutting class," Stanley said.

"I thought you weren't," Gordon replied.

Stanley just shrugged and walked of.

"Wait up," Gordon said as he followed him.

They walked out the school gates and wandered down the street.

"So why'd you cut?" Gordon asked.

"Can't be bothered waiting," Stanley replied, "it gets so boring."

MEANWHILE BACK IN CLASS

"Where is Stanley?" Miss Given asked.

"The nerd skipped class," Said Garth.

"Well," Miss Given, "He gets a detention with Gordon."

BACK ON THE STREETS

"I'm hungry," said Gordon, "I'm going to Hungry Jacks."

"I'm hungry to," Stanley said, "I'll come to."

"So you think we'll get in trouble?" Stanley asked.

"Na'," Gordon replied, "just a detention."

"What!" Stanley exclaimed.

"Don't worry," Gordon said, "I've had heaps before."

"But you're you."

Gordon just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.

I didnt understand the irony in this clip, the use of dialogue didn't help. The irony was that the boy who never came to school learnt and the kid that did come to school didn't learn ? Explain.
